The last month and a half

Lots of photos to share, many of which can be seen on my facebook photography page.

First off, we have Atmosphere performing at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz. I was very fortunate to get into this show for free with a photo pass. One of my photos was actually published on the Rhymesayers Website, which is the record label that Atmosphere is a part of. You can see it here.

Our Cat Sheba.

Zion I performing at my old college, CSUMB. Also got into this show for free with my old student ID. What a phenomenal show they put on, too bad their new album isn't so hot.

A recent event that I helped set up with Illusions of Grandeur at Chateau Julien Winery.

Forrest Day performing at the Planet Gemini in Monterey. These guys play music that is so different you can't classify it. They mix musical genres and produce a sound and live performance that will unquestionably leave you a fan wanting more. Listen to their music and see more photos here and over here. My favorite song is 'River Rat.'

In October I visited Philadelphia for the first time and experienced the vibrant foliage in fall. I also had one of the best sandwiches of my life.

I found this stick structure at the Philadelphia Arboretum which is a very fun place to walk around.

I had to visit Independence Hall and I spotted this important looking building just around the corner from the Historic Monument.

The Original Reuben at Reading Terminal Market Delicatessen.

Last but not least, the path to my latest campsite in Pt. Reyes, California.

friends in hometowns

Here we have two of my best friends featured in their present hometowns; Valerie in Monterey and Garrett in Benicia . I have taken a lot of pictures of these two people and over the years they seem to get better and better. Where will our friendship be in the years to come, photographically? Stay tuned.

Monterey Fire Department

A good friend of mine is a local fireman and he invited me to take some pictures at his fire station. I figure this is the kind of stuff blogs are made for, so here it is:

Shots for Tots

I shot a 3 year old's birthday party last month and I have to say it was a lot of fun. Kids are a joy to take pictures of. They don't have a trace of self consciousness and they are always happy, well not always, but this afternoon they were. I have been using the photos and my recently acquired photoshop skills for some fun triptychs. Enjoy!

Back to the Bay

Last weekend I drove north and spent some time in my home town of Benicia. It was great to visit with my family and friends and be treated to the best sushi you can imagine. I also packed in a double whammy of a walk with my mom and the dog along with a photo excursion. We went down below the Benicia Bridge, which faces Concord and ended up with more unexpected moving-train-experience than we bargained for. Here are the photos along with one shot from the Marin Headlands overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge that I took on my way home.

Lets Talk Texture...

Like a shopaholic; when I see it, I have to have it. The beautiful part is that it's free. Every where I go I see patterns and textures and light falling on objects that makes me want to grab my camera and put what I see into my little picture lock box. Here are some photos that I've grabbed around town that fit this description.

A Brower Photo

Here are some of the images that I shot for Stella Page Design. I got a chance to work with a beautiful and talented model named Valerie Brower, who conveniently happens to be my girlfriend. We packed some snacks and head out to a few locations I had in mind as well as a few that we found along the way. The project was a great success and a learning experience for the both of us. It turns out we work pretty well together and Stella loved the photos. She decided to use one of them for the front page of her website, which advertises her new spring line.

Photos from the previous decade.

I shot these concert shots last month at Jose's Underground in Monterey. ISO is cranked up pretty high but the images still came out pretty good.

I messed around with a few of the images in photoshop, which is probably going to become less rare in the future, since Photoshop is the modern day photographer's best friend.

Dark Activities

I have been shooting a lot of night photography lately, primarily just for fun. It usually yields really interesting photos with unique light. Even though it's often cold out, I really enjoy the solitude of being outside at night when nobodoy else is. Here are a few photos from a couple different nights with shutter speeds ranging from 5-25 seconds.
