Ocean Potion

Last weekend was wet and rainy but I took a lot of pictures. Here are a few from the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium and the first image is a long exposure from Cannery Row during a break in the rain thursday night.

Do you see the fish? There were so many strange and beautiful creatures at the aquarium, it reminded me of how incredibly diverse this world is.

a Realization

Last Friday I shot a band photo for local band and friends of mine; Realization. We went outside a few minutes before their set at Giovane's Pizza in Salinas. We used the light coming down the side of the liquor store as we improvised a band photo that turned out pretty interesting.

Black and White Event for Illusions of Grandeur

I was asked to shoot the set up for a black and white event in Carmel Valley for Illusions of Grandeur. The black and white color contrast was a challenge for me but I had a good time and the room looked great.

a handful of concert shots

Here are 5 images that I shot at a concert thursday night at Doc Ricketts in downtown Monterey. Because of the low light in the room I actually adjusted the contrast and color of these images slightly which is something that I have never done with my photos. Almost always my images are unedited and straight out of the camera. The band is Candyflip and they have an awesome live show that is very entertaining.

Getting my blog feet wet.

In May of 2009 I graduated college at California State University Monterey Bay and I worked hard all summer long so that I could buy the digital camera that I had been researching for months. Two days before I left for my adventure vacation in Peru I bought the Nikon D300 and a 18 - 105 lens. I am very happy with both purchases. They have opened me up to the world of digital photography. However, working digitally is still very new to me and a lot of fun in a different way than traditional film, which I had been shooting until July of 2009.

Peru is a very photogenic country and I had an amazing time there.
Here are just a few shots from our day at Machu Picchu.
